The U. S. Marine Corps specification that drove development of the Infrascanner Model 1000 has been replicated and improved for The Infrascanner Model 2000.

    The portable Infrascanner Model 2000 uses Near-Infrared (NIR) technology to screen patients for intracranial bleeding, identifying those who would most benefit from immediate referral to a CT scan and neurosurgical intervention. For the injured, it may be considered a critical triage device.

    Infrascanner Model 2000 Features:

    • Eye safe NIR diode laser and optical detector;
    • Two disposable light guides optically couple to the patient's head;
    • Digitized signal analyzed by Single Board Computer (SBC) within the sensor,? and the same optimizes data quality;
      On-screen readout;
    • Activation and deactivation accomplished by placing a disposable shield on the sensor (On) or removing it (Off).
    • Power supply: rechargeable NiMH battery pack or four (4) disposable AA batteries;
    • Cradle serves as a recharge base and as a data terminal between the Infrascanner Model 2000 and a personal computer.

Most significant upgrades

  • integration of the processing, display, and control functions of the separate PDA into the sensor;
  • Case hardening of the system for improved durability;
  • Provision of AA battery receptacle in addition to the rechargeable NiMH battery power pack.
